Joy Forwarding Challenge #2: Stand Up to Bullies

A few days ago I wrote a post about people being deliberately or inadvertently bullied or marginalized. If you missed it, the link is here http://believeanyway.wordpress.com/2012/01/29/i-had-friends-that-and-no-they-did-not-deserve-it/

Now, my friend Katharine suggested that we could put this situation to work in the world. So here is the Joy Forwarding Challenge #2. Let’s forward joy this week by standing up to bullies when we notice someone getting bullied. For example, if we are on FB and it seems like people are “piling on” let’s step up to the plate. Let’s see if we can stop the bullying through joy forwarding. No one deserves to be humiliated, bullied, or marginalized.

Let’s look for ways in the next week to spread joy by standing up for others….sometimes people do not even realize that what they are doing is in fact bullying.  Let’s spread joy. Let’s spread goodness and grace. Let’s see how many different ways we can come up with to do this. Let’s see how we are at diffusing….Rise to the occasion. Do something this week to stand up to bullies. Then write a post about it. Then comment here, and put the links back to your blog post about what you did to forward joy by standing up to bullies.

And while we are at it let’s remember to stop and pray for not only the bullied, but the bullies as well. Their internal pain must be enormous and unbearable.

Joy Forwarding Challenge: Week 1

I will put a challenge up about once a week—shooting for Wednesday so that you have a weekend to play with, too. This week the Joy-Forwarding Challenge will be “simple”. That can mean many things—it can mean helping someone mentally disabled, it can mean something simple yet meaningful. Those of you who are driven to distraction by the need to “do things right or correctly” [umm like me--] play with it. It is deliberately open-minded. When you do something that spreads joy—post it in the comments here–with photo, preferably. I wish you love, joy, and moments to remember to… breathe…..God bless!

How the Joy Forwarding Project is Going to Work

Here is how we are going to begin the Joy-Forwarding Project. I am including a quote from a comment from a dear friend (Katharine Trauger) “Just an idea here–instead of challenging us to spread joy,  why not challenge us to REPORT on how we already did (past tense) spread joy?
For instance, I have already put your new badge on my blog: Ding.
I plan to give a bouquet to our local librarian, who is diabetic so I cannot give her brownies: Nice thought, but no ding–not done yet. Get it?
In fact, you could challenge us to provide a photo, too, or else it didn’t happen“. ;-)

How to participate? Go ahead and post in the comments on this page when you decide to join. Copy the badge from my right side-bar. Let me know if you need guidance on how to do that.

So–about once a week I will post a potential concept for you to use for your Joy-Forwarding. You, then, can post what you already did do once you do it (hopefully with a photo, too). Some weeks I will use the Weekly Photo Challenge as an impetus.  Your comments and photos for each week will go in the comment section for that challenge. Feel free to comment on each others’ joy-forwards. Hopefully we can all gain new ideas from each other! I wish you love—and joy.

I announced the launch of the Joy-Forwarding Project on 1/8/2012. The badge is on the right sidebar of this page. I will be running it on a separate blog/website which is:http://joyforwardingproject.com/. As of 1/25/2012 it is up and ready to go.

http://joyforwardingproject.com/2012/01/25/how-the-joy-forwarding-project-is-going-to-work/ explains it all.

I have really struggled with the best way to approach the Joy-Forwarding Project. I have been trying to think of, for instance weekly prompts, etc.
